Besides me, Karen and Wynter are my favorite Gen Exers. I guess I need to love myself first, as Whitney taught us all. But after me, these two insightful pop culture historians are the best.
Every time a new episode shows it in my feed I know I’m in for a good time. Every week Karen and Wynter break down pop culture through their Gen X lens and I can never get enough. Thanks for being something to look forward to in hope-starved times!
Even as a millennial, KT and Wynter’s take on pop-culture is insightful. A fan since the “Pop Rocket” days, I very much appreciate Waiting to X-hale’s ability to tactfully switch between social justice commentary and pure frivolity. Thank you for giving listeners an awesome break from the daily grind! (P.s. loved loved loved your episode with Ann Powers)
As a queer gen x-er I love this. Such great conversations. Lost generation x is found here. Every episode I want to participate in the convo. They are great.
Finally, a podcast for the forgotten generation! I love these ladies and their insights into the culture that defines my age group. And you can't beat that theme song.
Love these gals... KT & Wynter have great takes on a retrospective look on Gen X pop culture and current affairs.
I. Have. Mussed.Ya’ll. So.Much. Long time Pop Rocket Fan. Not plugged into Apples’s algorhythm obviously, cause I just found you. I have been binging you all week. Yay! Glad to have you back in my life. And girl, you are right. I hated the theme song and then.....
Obsessed. Made my way here from Throwing Shade. Quirky queer intersectional feminist hilarious goodness! - Adoring Millennial and WAP Enthusiast
Followed these smart women from their previous show. WtE is good for the brain and the soul.
For indescribable delight and intellectual stimulation tune in to this brilliant conversation. Karen & Wynter and Guests always make me chuckle and think or think and chuckle. Smartest. Queerest. Best!
Love Karen & Wynter's insight on all pop culture. I was crushed when their past podcast was so rudely ripped from our feeds. Thank goodness Waiting to X-Hale quickly came along to bring me all the pop culture news and analysis I need.
These women rock! They’re intelligent, funny, vulnerable, honest storytellers. Hearing other perspectives from Gen X women makes me feel less alone. I love you two ladies!
So glad to be listening to Karen Tongson again. As a Filipino American our voices are often not heard. I can’t wait to hear her take on a variety of topics. She’s always insightful, intelligent and funny.
I am Dr Tongsen’s biggest fan among straight white dudes. Thanks for doing what you do!
Listening to Karen and Wynter is like being part of a great conversation with your friends. I listened to Poprocket and I’m so glad that I can continue my weekly meet up with these ladies.
White woman born in 1962, grew up in HB CA, moved to Seattle for college. I’m married to a for real baby boomer and I say without hesitation that I am Gen-X. I was there for the launch of MTV and was going to punk/grunge shows before grunge was a thing. I heard about you listening to Keep It! and very much enjoy your podcast. I hope I’ve somewhat justified my Gen-X bonafides. Thanks for an enjoyable hour!
2 wonderful, intelligent, bright, engaged women wax poetic on the 90’s. What more could you ask for?
Was so overwhelmed with loneliness after Pop Rocket was done. I don’t have any friends where I live. Certainly no friends that consume content as unabashedly and thoughtfully as these two. This podcast activates my brain, makes me laugh, and definitely makes me feel like I have friends again. This is just an all around effing delightful podcast.
I wait for this podcast every week, and am never disappointed. This is the first podcast that seems designed just for my tastes: intersectional, queer, irreverent, cross-cultural critique with great music and a sense of humor. Thank you for making this happen, Karen and Wynter!
Karen and Wynter are true pop culture experts, and they make this a really fun listen. They are covering everything my friends with older siblings were appalled I hadn't seen AND new things I am too old to know about. These are my pop culture elders and I am here to learn!!!
Wynter and Karen are so good at this. It’s two pals making sense of each other’s worlds while both having a deep bench of references. I legit LOLed at their discussion of Robbie Neville’s “C’est la Vie.” These are two true pros who know how to balance deep dives with a conversational tone. If you are into 80s and 90s pop culture—and you miss a Certain Show That Was Unreasonably Canceled—listen to and support this program. 5/5!
Deeply grateful for finally getting an explanation of “yeet.” I sincerely feel so much better. Thanks, awesome ladies!
I will follow these ladies into any abyss! Proud to be a Patreon supporter of this incredible podcast with these smart, stunning women! Can’t wait to hear more!
I love love love this show. So happy that Karen & Wynter are back. Their insight brings me joy. 💜💜💜 Elaine/TFALPodcast
Have enjoyed these two wonderful people for a long time and very happy they’re back on the pods. The discussions are so fun and as someone who remembers much of the era, there a nostalgia itch being scratched in the most tingly way. Only thing missing is a mood-of-the-day “hello hello!” and a sultry “hi exhalers”. Wynter and Karen are the best!
